Prof Michalis Katsimpoulas received his B.Sc. in Veterinary Science from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2002, and his PhD from the Medical School of Athens (Vascular Surgery Department) in 2013. The September of 2006 he joined the BRFAA as Research Fellow at the Center for Experimental Surgery, in 2014 was elected as Research Staff Scientist C – Assistant Professor Level and last year as Researcher B – Associate Professor. His professional duties regard the implementation of his surgical skills in experimental protocols mainly concerning the whole range of the surgical intervention area. He is conducting, as senior-primary surgeon, soft tissue (cardiovascular, thoracic, kidney, liver etc. surgeries), orthopaedic and neuro, studies. His main area of expertise is the cardiovascular, regenerative surgery and preclinical studies. He has published more than 50 peer reviewed articles in International Journals, three chapter in International Book, and he has presented more than 120 abstracts in International and Greek conferences.
