Observership is a student educational program, designed and launched through the collaboration of the NoDE Institute with SURSO NKUA, the independent medical student society of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, united by a shared passion for Surgery. Surgical Society NKUA – LinkedIn
The program focuses on the observation of live surgical procedures and takes place at Hygeia Hospital over the course of one week. Each session hosts two medical students, who follow a structured daily schedule within the hospital. Students have the opportunity to observe procedures in the clinical department of their choice and participate in case discussions with the faculty. To gain access to the hospital, a private insurance policy is required, which is fully covered by the NoDE Institute.
Through the Observership, students will:
Observe real-time surgeries in various departments, such as General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, among others.
Gain exposure to the anesthesiology team, nursing staff, operating room environment, postoperative care, and recovery, developing a holistic understanding of surgical practice.
Explore potential future fields of specialization.
Participation in the program is offered free of charge, as are all of NoDE’s educational programs.
