Shadowing – A Highschool Medical Science Program

The “Shadowing” program was designed by Node institute to complement career counselling for students, with respects to their individual needs and their conscious choice of Medical Schools. Participation is offered to students on their junior and sophomore years in Highschool (1st and 2nd Class of Greek Lykeion accordingly) that are considering pursuing a career in the medical field and want to familiarize themselves with it in action.

The program is carried out in HYGEIA hospital 6 weeks per year. Students are split into small groups and become the “shadow” of a specific doctor and their team for one week, following them throughout their daily tasks within all hospital grounds.

This specifically includes:

Interactive conversation regarding the path and the choices that a doctor In Greece and abroad should face and follow

Expectations Vs Reality

Debates on the real aspects of the medical science and the meaning of contributing to society through this field

Observation of clinical practice of both internal medicine and surgical specialties (rounds, outpatients department, operating theaters)

Clarification of clinical decision making and patient based clinical approach techniques

Participation in the program is offered free of charge, as are all of NoDE’s educational programs.

Available dates:

1^rst week: 15/06-19/06/2026

2^nd week: 22/06-26/06/2026

3^rd week: 29/06-03/07/2026

4^th εβδομάδα: 06/07-10/07/2026

Each interested individual may register through the platform by completing the participation form. The registration period is announced on our official website.

The notification of the student’s acceptance into the program is made by sending an acceptance email to the parents’ email address.

The vision of Node is for “Shadowing” to become a communication bridge between aspiring young doctors and medical students, residents, and specialized physicians around the world, through their interaction within the framework of the program.
