General Surgeon specializing in colorectal surgery, abdominal wall hernias, and antireflux surgery. A graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with advanced postgraduate training in Germany and the United Kingdom. Holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health and HBA, and is a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery.
Currently serving as the Chair of the EAES Guidelines Committee and methodologist of ESCP, with extensive expertise in advanced evidence synthesis and guideline methodology. A certified lead guideline developer, involved in coordinating and contributing to numerous guideline development groups. Member of the GRADE Working Group and director of the Papageorgiou GRADE Center.
Actively engaged in academic publishing as subject editor for Surgical Endoscopy, academic editor for Colorectal Disease, and associate editor for several peer-reviewed journals. Serves as a reviewer for governmental and non-profit grant-awarding bodies in Greece, Cyprus, Italy, and Canada.
Presently a Consultant General Surgeon at Papageorgiou General Hospital, Thessaloniki.
